Meet the Staff

Phonzie Brown, D.Ph., President and Executive Director

Phonzie has been a pharmacy professional for 50+ years. After graduating with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee in 1965, he worked as a pharmacist, a district manager for Super X drugs, and as a 3rd party sales specialist. He formerly served as the VP of Sales for BioScrip, based in Elmsford, NY. Phonzie is a member of the National Community Pharmacists Association, Federation of Pharmacy Networks (FPN)  and the Tennessee Pharmacist Association (TPA).

Phonzie lives in Nashville, TN, with his wife Nezalee, a retired nurse. When not on the job, he enjoys his favorite hobby; playing golf and spending time with his four young grandchildren.

Derrick Crigger, Marketing Representative

Derrick has been in a pharmacy since birth, literally.  Like many children of independent pharmacy owners, he grew up at his family's pharmacy, doing age-appropriate jobs including deliveries.

Derrick received his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.  He worked in the restaurant industry for several years as an international corporate trainer and manager.  But the pull of independent pharmacy proved too strong and he joined the SPC team in 2016.  Derrrick lives in Alabama with his wife and children.

Karen Denaburg, Vice President of 3rd Party/Managed Care

Karen began her work in the pharmacy profession in 2001 with the Tennessee Pharmacists Association. She directed the third party department for The Pharmacy Cooperative and later served as Director of Contract Negotiations for the third party division of APCI. Karen’s previous experience includes communications, event planning and fundraising for non-profit organizations, state associations, and a national political campaign.

Karen received her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Martin. She lives in Medina, Tennessee with her husband Scott, a pharmacist, and their two children.

Sherri Forrest. Vice President Professional Affairs

In 1998, after graduating from David Lipscomb University, Sherri joined the Tennessee Pharmacy Coalition, which later became The Pharmacy Cooperative as the Director of Member Relations.  Sherri is now the Vice President of Professional Affairs for Southern Pharmacy Cooperative.  She has extensive experience in event planning, vendor relations and communications. Sherri is a member of the National Community Pharmacists Association, Arkansas Pharmacists Association and the Federation of Pharmacy Networks.

Sherri resides in Nashville, Tennessee where she enjoys all aspects of what truly is Music City U.S.A.  In her spare time, Sherri is a certified Miss America judge and travels throughout the country judging pageants. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Two Rivers Mansion, a historical landmark in Nashville, TN.
